I had commuted a high school Kumamoto Gakuen University. My first memory is school trip. I went to Taiwan. In my high school, we could choose a place which we want to go to. We chose it of Hokkaido, Tokyo, Nagano and Taiwan. I wanted to go to foreign country. We saw many noted places in Taiwan. We went and saw Kokyu museum, so big valley and Taipei 101 building. My favorite place is Taipei 101 building. It was the highest building in 2007. I was surprised at the elevator. It went up at so high speed. We also had many Chinese dishes. My favorite dish was Syo-ron-pou. We made them ourselves, after we were taught by cook. The trip made many good memories.

December 24!

I enjoyed with my family and friends on December 24. I’m not a Christian, but I enjoy on Christmas Eve.

I made a cake with my friend. We can’t bake sponge cake ourselves, so we bought a ready-made sponge cake. We made whipped cream, and decorated sponge cake with whipped cream, strawberries and saku-saku panda. Saku-saku panda is my favorite confectionery. We put them on the cake. I could make cute cake. The taste is also nice. The fresh whipped cream was so soft, and the chocolate taste was good. The cake is easy to make, but I enjoyed well.

In the night, I had a dinner with my father, mother and grandmother. My mother challenged to make paella. Paella is a colorful Spanish dish. I like seafood, so I love paella. Mother’s paella was also so good. There were sashimi, green salad and deep-fried chicken in the dinner. I satisfied them, and I could not have all of them.

After the dinner, we had a Christmas cake. It was so cute cake. The surface was soft white-chocolate mousse, and the inside was soft raspberry and blueberry mousse. Macarons put on the outside. I think that the cake looks like a UFO.

I enjoyed Christmas Eve. I am a Buddhist, but I celebrate Christmas every year. The fact is so funny. Christmas is one of my favorite day for a year.

Essay 2-03a “Students Now and Then”

Today, I’ll tell you about now university life and the life in 25 years from now. I’ll introduce my present life in Kumamoto Gakuen University in order to explain now university life at first. And, I imagine what university life would be like in 25 years from now. I will make a comparison between the two lives in terms of some same subjects. The subjects are about study and life mainly.

First, I will tell you about university life now. I study English in the university. I get up around 7 o’clock, and I go to university by motorcycle. Students mostly go to school by bicycle, motorcycle, foot, bus and train on weekdays. I go through hardships in the morning in winter because it is so cold. I think that I want to go to sleep for just five more minutes. Everyone may think the same in cold day.

After I arrive at university, I come in a classroom. There are many classrooms in university. I must go the classroom which be appointed by office. People inexperienced in university life will have some trouble, for example freshmen. A teacher and many students are in classroom. The class that I especially want to introduce is my listening class and my reading class. In the listening class, teacher plays a cassette and a video. We listen to the English, and we answer questions. Teachers mostly use blackboard and whiteboard. In the reading class, we study how to read English-language paper. We study it with textbook and newspaper. If I find the points and my mistakes, I mark and write in points by color pens. I practice memorizing with handwriting.

In the time except classes, I spend time to on having a lunch and reading the library etc. In lunch time, some have a lunchbox which be brought from their homes, others have a lunch in cafeteria and bakery and buy a snack lunch in convenience store. I often go to the library. I read books and find books about subjects that I learn in classes. There are many books in library, but I sometimes have troubles with searching for books. And in the library of KGU, there aren’t many novels, despite there are many books. I want to read novels. I want to add to many genres books.

In 25 years from now, university life will probably change significantly. The science and technology in the world will improve, and university life may be influenced with the evolution. I think that student will study on the Internet. Teachers make examinations with e-mail, and students answer with e-mail. Those all processes will be made in internet. Students have own PC or iPad with micro camera and microphone. Teachers and students talk each other with them. And students will chat with students all the world easily. Students will have to study English and other languages harder than now.

Students study in internet, so they need not to go to university every day. Their university life will greatly change. There are only a few buildings, because many classrooms don’t need any more. In the buildings, there are offices. Students study at home, so they won’t go through hardships in the morning in winter. They go to school once in a while for the sake of exchange with other students.

Library will change too. I think that electronic books will become popular in the world, and library of university will come to have many electronic books. A download area is in the library and the library’s web site. Students download free from library’s PC in the library, or from web site at home. But on the other hands, they read paper books too. People notice the important of paper books with electronic books.

As you can see, I imagined and compared between university life now and 25 years from now. I think that the present life and the life in 25 years from now will very different, because life in 25 years ago and present life are very difference. I imagined all people will come to use computer devices and internet anytime, and student’s life will be influence with them. But nobody knows what the future in the world will be. Perhaps progress of technology may exceed my hope. I’ m not a student in 25 years from now, so I want to see my children’s university life if I have children.

Roasso won the game 3-0. I could watch the moments of goal, because I was watching near the goal post. Supporters were growing livelier with red collored wears and flogs. I was surprised at the big cheerings. I enjoyed watching soccer. I think for the first time watching sports is so good.

Mind map: University life

Quick post: Uni. life about 25 years from now

I imagined university life in 25 years. I think that there are no people in university. For a cut of cost of land, there is only an office in university. Students study in Internet. They will use devices. For example, personal computer and iPad.

[44 words]

Quick post: Uni. life (now)

I had no reason that I entered KGU University, because I was in a pinch. I have been to Seijo University in Tokyo in 2008, but I cannot enjoy the university. I was melancholic and depressing in those days. I couldn’t go the university from autumn. And I dropped the university. I worried about my future for some months. And in winter, I decide on entrance to KGU University. When I entered this school, I didn’t have any purposes. But I enjoy everyday. I didn’t like English last year, but I came to like English now. I want to study English hard in next year and the year after next.

Book Review 2-13 “Clothes Then and Now”

I read “Clothes Then and Now”. In this book, history of clothes and fashion is introduced. I have been interested in clothes and fashion. I always enjoy them. Today, I will introduce about them of old days and now.

In primitive age, there were no shops, of course. People produced their clothes themselves. They killed animals for food, and made clothes from skin of animals. The clothes helped to keep them warm and protect them from scratches and insect bites. Clothes of animal’s skin are still sold at shops. People buy them, because they are fashionable and help to keep warm.

But some people think it is wrong to wear skin from animals, because clothes from skin lead to too much hunting. In fact, some wild animals are in danger of dying out, so hunting these animals is prohibited by laws in many countries.

In this book there were lots of surprises. The most surprising bit of information about clothes was "People have worn uniforms for thousands of years."(Julie, 2007, p.20). I don’t know that there were uniforms from that early day. I knew the origin of uniform is clothes of nurses. I think certainly he or she is a nurse when I see a person who is wearing uniform of nurses. And somehow, I am tense up when I see a person wearing uniform of policeman. I think uniforms are very convenient when people show the work and what school they go to.

I like fashion, and I always want many clothes. But I knew one truth about clothes. It is that there are many people make our clothes by hand somewhere in the world. Moreover they are working for low wages. Clothes sold at shops are very brilliant, but I think we must not forget the fact.

Typing 2nd -11 "Circle/club"

I don’t belong to any circle at university. But I belonged to tea ceremony club in high school. We gathered and practiced tea ceremony once a week at a tea house. Tea ceremony is Japanese traditional culture. We learned it from an expert of tea ceremony. In the practice, we fold legs under ourselves and close eyes at the first. We meditate and compose. And we start to practice. We divide mates into hosts and guests. And the hosts make tea for guest by turns. Guests drink the tea and eat Japanese-style confectionary. Hosts and guests have strict processes and manners. I think tea ceremony is difficult. Somehow, I calm down and feel comfortable when I practice tea ceremony. I want to take part in tea ceremony someday.

Book Review 2-12 “The Lost City of Machu Picchu”

Today, I read a book about Machu Picchu. Machu Picchu is wonderful ancient city. It is nearly 8000 feet up in the Andes Mountains of Peru.

In this book, there is not only the introduction of Machu Picchu. The thoughts of people who live near Machu Picchu were also written. Recently, many tourists visit the city to go and watch Machu Picchu. The tourists spend money and enrich the city. But on the other hand some tourists apprehensive of the environmental destruction. The problem is what both of them can understand reasons each other. But most people think that Machu Picchu must be exposed for all visitors because Machu Picchu is a worldwide heritage in genetral.

I was interested in mysterious Machu Picchu and the city. If I visit tourist attractions, I must think about the future of the heritage. And I want to go to Machu Picchu absolutely someday.

Book Review 2-11 “DAMS”

I read this book “DAMS”. I have been interested in dams. I read this book, and I could know many things about dams.

First, I knew that there are many kinds of dams. They are arch dams, buttress dams, embankment dams and gravity dams. These four dams have each features, and these roles are different too. Arch dams are curved. Arched dams are built in rocky areas. Arched dams are thin. But they help hold back the water strongly. So they don’t use much concrete to build. Buttress dams have supports on one side to help make them strong. These supports are called buttresses. They help hold back the water strongly. Embankment dams are huge. They are made of earth and rock. They are like big lakes. Gravity dams are huge and heavy dams. They are made of earth, rocks and concrete. Gravity dams use lots of concrete, earth and rocks. So they are expensive to build. They are very heavy, but the weight supports the water strongly.

Things and architectures that have artificial shapes are so interesting for me. For example tanks, tetrapods and dams. But dams are especially huge in them. I have ever been and watch to a dam in Kumamoto. At that time, I was surprised at the huge lump of concrete. The lump is fascinating for me. I think that dams are like a symbol of human’s power. Dams go against natural power of water. And we can watch the wisdom and technique of human being. I think that dams are wonderful things.

Book Review 2-10 “Don’t Believe YOUR EYES!”

In this book, a town in Italy is introduced. The town is a small town that has port and called Camogli. There are many colorful houses. I didn’t know that why this title was named this. As far as I watch the picture, I think there are colorful houses simply. But in the houses, many tricks are hided. If you look carefully at the houses, you will see the tricks. We can see many windows, ornaments of window and flowers in the walls of houses. But they aren’t real. People there paint in a special style called ‘trompe l’oeil.’ Many windows, ornaments of window and flowers are painted by ‘trompe l’oeil’artists in walls. The paints were drawn for fishermen in the town. It is because that fishermen can discern their houses from ships in port. I was surprised when I knew the really purpose. It is practical purpose. But in fact, the paints are so beautiful. I also knew that artists of trompe l’oeil are decreasing year after year. I think that trompe l’oeil is traditional culture. I want the culture to be preserved. And I want to go there and see them someday.

Book Review 2-09 “Galileo Galilei And The Beginning Of Modern Science”

I read the Galileo Galilei And The Beginning Of Modern Science. In this book, career of Galileo Galilei is introduced. I had known only his name. I was surprised when I knew his career.

Galileo Galilei was born in Italy in the 16th century. I think he was so clever person. It is because he was an astronomer and physicist. He was the first person who used a telescope to see many of the planets and stars, and he discovered many important facts about astronomy. He accomplished many feats. But he got the death punishment and died. I could not understand at first. Why was he gotten the death punishment though he accomplished many feats?

It is because he dispersed an idea. The idea was contrary to the Christ’s teaching. He thought that the earth isn’t the center of the space and it moves in the space, that is to say the heliocentric system. In that time, people were thinking that the earth is the center of the space and all things go round the earth. The thought was based on belief in God. It was implicit truth. In that age, Galilei make the idea public. Naturally he was gotten the accusation. Churches urged him to give up the idea. But he continued the study. He was accused again and gotten the death penalty.

I think that his idea is great invention in history. He knew the truth, but he wasn’t accepted by then people. Religion and belief affected thought of people. And people won’t leave for outside of the thought. His idea was in advance of the times. He died unhappily, but I think the existence of him was essential for present people.

My motto is “uitenpen-yo-no-narai”(有為転変世の習い). This motto calls “All worldly things are transitory” in English. I often think about a notion of time. I can’t believe that I become an adult when I was a child. But I became an adult without notice. I tend to live lazily from my childhood. When I was an elementary school student, it took me one hour to have a breakfast and two hours to have a dinner. I always was scolded by my mother. I know what I am a bum. So I have to effort to live better. All things are transitory. If I relax anytime, I will have gotten old. Time does not wait for me. I want to treasure each moments.

Essay 2-02b: Encounter with Languages

I think that learning language is difficult, especially foreign languages. Foreign languages differ widely from mother tongue in spoken language and written language. But mother tongue is also difficult. I think that speaking and writing decency is lifelong learning. Now, I will introduce my language learning experience. I have studied Japanese, Spanish and English.

First, I’ll tell you about my Japanese learning experience. Japanese is my mother tongue. I have heard Japanese since I was a baby. So I can speak and write it. Before I went to an elementary school, I learned “hiragana” and “katakana” from my mother. I liked reading picture books in my childhood. I have an elder sister. I wanted to read correctly like my sister, so I memorized with all my might. I like to watch “hiragana”. Hiragana has many curves. And I think that the shapes are so unique. In elementary school, I learned “kanji” at the first time. The impressive thing is the writing order of “kanji”. I learned from my teacher that we can write beautifully if we write the correct order of kanji. And I often read aloud. I read to parents every day, and my parents paint a graph of reading every day. I was happy in that time.

In junior high school, I learned Japanese classics at the first time. And, we recited them in my school. Recitation is difficult for me. But I owe it to the recitation that I remember famous phrases of Japanese classic. In high school, I study them deeply. I read many writing for examination. So I disliked reading at that time. But now, I enjoy Japanese. I like reading books very much. Once I begin to read, I can’t stop. So I often bring books into bathroom. When I read a book in a bathtub, I am so happy. Japanese is profound. I think my favorite kanguage is Japanese.

Second, I’ll tell you about my Spanish learning. I studied Spanish last year. I chose it as a second foreign language in university. I was interested in studying Spanish, because I liked Brazilian music. Brazilian music is sung in Portuguese. I knew Portuguese is alike Spanish. My favorite point of Spanish is the pronunciation. Spanish is difficult, but when I listen to the speaking and singing, I feel comfort. I have known Brazilian music since I was a junior high school student. I have a favorite Brazilian musician. He is Antônio Carlos Jobim and Caetano Veloso.

I think that Spanish has unique rhythms and sounds. I cannot take Spanish class this year due to other classes, but I want to study deeper and speak well, so I’m going to take Spanish class next year, and I want to go to Spain and Portugal someday.

Third, I’ll tell you about my English learning. I began to study English from a junior high school student. At first, I studied Alphabets. I found my then English note the other day. It seems easy, but I studied hard at that time. In high school, I studied for an examination. I memorized hardly many words. And I practiced reading English sentences speedy. I enjoyed studying with favorite textbooks. After I entered Kumamoto Gakuen University, I enjoy studying English more. It is because I can study English freely in University. I made this blog, and I write about many events. I can write officially home works and privately events in this blog. So I can enjoy in freely mind.

And I have four classes this year. They are Writing, Reading, Speaking and Listening. I like Writing and Reading. I especially like writing class the best. I like writing my diaries and essays in my blog, and I am poor at Speaking and Listening. In Japanese, I’m poor to speaking and listening. For example, I dislike speeches and memorizing after listening. On the other hand, I usually like reading books and writing compositions and essays. I think I have awareness of weak points about speaking and listening in all languages. I want to stop the awareness. If I stop the awareness, I can study English actively. English is so difficult for me. I cannot speak English well. I want to study English hard.

And I also want to challenge new language. I want to study Italian. It is because I like classical music and arts. The origin of classical music and arts is in Italian. So I study it.

I already explained my language learning. I have been studying Japanese for 20 years, and studied English for 9 years. Setting Spanish aside, I have been studying for long time in my life. In spite of that fact, I'm not good at Japanese and English. For example, I cannot speak Japanese honorific words and fluent English. I think afresh that learning language is difficult and lifelong learning. I want to have many interesting things, and I study in my whole life.

November 16. Macarons!

They are macarons. This macarons are made by my mother. Today, she went to a class of making sweets at a confectionery. I like macarons. The outside of macarons tastes very crispy. But the inside of them is very soft and moist. The greatest feature of macarons is the color. Macarons are so colorful. Pink is taste of strawberry. Green is taste of pistachio. Brown is taste of chocolate. The colors of today are their 3 colors, but other colors of macarons exist infinitely. And today’s macarons are with fresh cream and some fruits. I haven’t eaten such macarons. The shape is a little ugly with handmade, but their taste was very good. I want to make macarons on my own someday.

Book Review 2-08 “GETTING THE PICTURE”

In this book, the history of photography is introduced. I thought that the word of “photography” is new word in human history. It is because photography does not exist in the old days. But in fact, the notion of “photography” exists from old days. The word “photography” means “to draw with light”. It comes from two words of Greek. Photos means light. And graphe means “to write or draw".

The origin of camera is a dark room with a hole. A small hole was drilled at a wall in a square room. And light which flooded from the hole projected the outside view on the opposite wall. After some age, the rooms became small portable boxes. A lens was put in place of the hole. Light which flooded was projected at paper. It was used by artists for sketch. The box was improved.

In 1839, the world’s first photograph was taken by Joseph Nicephore Niepce. He took 8 hours to take the photograph. In 1990s, more people started taking photos. But cameras are so expensive in the time.

Recently, people take photograph with digital cameras. Digital cameras became popular quickly. Most people take photos with them rather than with film cameras. Digital cameras are small and easy to use. And we can watch the photos before we print them. I take “puri-kura” at times. I can take a picture with it, draw some illustrations and words, and get the picture as a sticker. I think it is natural behavior. But it is wonderful camera of civilization. I knew the history of photograph. And I think I receive benefit from wisdom of ancestors.

Book Review 2-07 “MAGNET”

I read this book “MAGNET”. In this book, many things are written about magnets. I like magnets. I often played with magnets when I was a child. I gathered iron sand around my house and a park. I had some questions about magnets from that time. And I could know them after I read this book.

Magnets always have the North pole and the South pole. They attract each other. I have already known it. But I didn’t know why they attract each other and attract. All things in the world have magnetic force. The magnetic forces usually turn on random directions. But the force of magnets turns on same direction. So magnets attract each
other.

The history of magnets is also introduced in this book. From the old days, the fact that there are stones attract irons was known by many people. The magnets are natural magnets. In the year about 1000, sailor used magnets for the sake of knowing direction. Today, magnets are used for various purposes. For example, the beginner’s mark of
drivers, speaker, motor and disposal of rubbish etc. There are many other ways use magnets. I didn’t know that magnets are used at waste treatment centers. Magnets are used when rubbishes were classified metals and others in there. I am becoming happy while I research about magnets. So I will introduce about magnets.

The earth is a big magnet. The earth has the North pole and the South pole. I had a question. Why the earth has two poles? It is because the inner of the earth is pulp. There are matters that be melted by high heat. And the matters are turned by rotation. The revolution is the same condition as electromagnet.

I will introduce about magnet at hand. Vegetables and fruits become sweeter after they approximate to magnets. Magnetic force affects vegetable and fruits. And Japanese bills are attracted by magnet. It is because their ink has magnetic force. This helps prevention of crime.

As you can see, magnets are essential things for us. I usually don't think about magnet. But I use magnets without knowing. I think that magnet is profound and interesting things.

They are deserts. But I haven’t been there. I like to watch pictures of deserts recently. I thought that they are places which have many sand and there are camels. But in fact, deserts which have only sand are about 20 percents of deserts all over the world. Other deserts have clays, stones and rocks. But I like deserts that have only sand the best. The view of deserts is changing every time. It is because sand is flown by wind. And sand makes beautiful dunes and patterns.

I want to go to deserts someday. And I want to see an orange-colored sand dune in purple evening.

Typing 2nd -7 "Shoes"

I have nice shoes. They are like Japanese “Tabi(足袋)”. The color is black. And they were drawn white numerals at random. The surface is thick cloth. The cloth continues to the ankle. But the shoes don’t have shoestrings. Instead, Japanese “Tabi” has exclusive pins at the back of ankle. I don’t have to tie shoestrings every time. I just have to pin up.

I bought them at a shop on Internet. The main shop of the shoes is in Kyoto. The shop’s name is “sou-sou”. The shop sells Japanese goods and clothes etc. I like the shoes very much, because they are unique and useful. I like Japanese tradition and modern design of my shoes.

October 18. ABC- 2

Next was judgment. After hairdressers left the hall, models stayed there. Judges were a famous hairdresser and the editor in chief of magazine in the whole country. And special judge was a talent, Suzanne. They stared at models and me. I felt stressed, because I got severe looks from them. The first judgment winnows the candidate down from 150 to 30. We waited an announcement of the result.

After we waited for a while, the result was announced. We passed the first judgment beautifully. Next was the final judgment. I was very nervous, because number of models decreased. I thought that I wasn’t watched by judges in the judgment. So I thought we cannot get an award.

Finally, the awarding ceremony started. Many kinds of awards were announced in turn. There were many sections. For example, ladies’ cut, men’s cut, hair make, and photo creation. All of them were beautiful works. I was happy to see. Then suddenly, the name of “Michika” was called. She receives two awards. They were awards of magazine. I was so happy, but another surprising thing was happened. She received the grand prix of the section!! We were excited. We went on the stage, and she received a certificate of merit. I received a trophy from Suzanne. I was so happy. It was like a dream. After the awarding ceremony, I was taken pictures by some people.

I was happy, because I experienced rare event. I am interested in fashion and beauty, so I think that the experience is so profitable for me. And I think creating is wonderful work.

October 18. ABC- 1

I took part in a contest of hair cut “ABC” as a hair model on October 18 in Fukuoka. ABC is “Asia Beauty Congress". About two thousands of hairdressers and beauty technical college students took part in it. I undertook the part because I was asked by a hairdresser of beauty salon “pikaichi” in Kumamoto. She is Michika, still an assistant in salon. She is same age as me, so we become friends soon. I went to the salon, because we had to predetermine clothes, makeup and hairdo. We selected clothes together. I selected favorite clothes as if it is my usual shopping. But it was correct. We could decide clothes quickly. Makeup was so fancy. Under eyes were painted yellow. Cheeks were painted glaring orange. And I was stick seals of star under left eyes. I left Michika to decide hairstyle. I had bob hair since I was a high school student. I thought I want to change hairstyle. So I was looking forward to changing.

That day of the contest, I went to Marine Messe in Fukuoka. When we arrived at Marine Messe, there were many many people. They look like people concerned beauty, because everyone is fashionable. We came in the hall. And I was made up for the first judgment. After makeup, I sat on a chair in the hall. There were many pairs model and hairdresser. We entered in a section of “Under 23 years old”. There were about 150 hairdressers.

The first judgment started at last. Every hairdresser started to cut hair all at once. The time limit was 40 minutes. They must to cut and set hair in 40 minutes. I had a timer in my hand, and I informed the time to Michika. Michika finished cutting and setting. But I didn’t see my hair yet.

Book Review 2-05 “Rainforests”

Rainforests

I read a book about rainforests. Recently, I am interested in the global environment. I had many questions about it. And I also had some questions about rainforests. Now, I will express my questions. And I will answer them on the basis of the book’s subject matters.

1. What are rainforests?
Rainforests have a genial climate. There are very tall trees. And, rainforests are forests where it rain a lot all the year around. Rainforests are in Africa, Asia, Australia, Middle America and South America. The biggest rainforest is “Amazon”. It is in South America.
2.Why are rainforests important?
Rainforests is important for ecosystem all over the world. Many animals and plants live in rainforests. While forests are disappearing, many species are threatened with extinction. Zoo cannot save all animals. And rainforests settle the climate. They can protect from floods, lacks of water and erosions. They are sources of medical herbs and foods. And they support the life of the original inhabitant. And I think rainforests are the nice places to travel.
3. Why are there many species of animals and plants in rainforests?
Trees in rainforests get much sunshine. The sunshine changes into energy. Rainforests get much sunshine, so they have much energy. The energy is saved by plants. And the plants are eaten by animals. Rainforests have many provisions of plants and animals. So, many species of animals and plants live in rainforests.
4. Why do rainforests disappear in the world?
The main cause is human being. Human cut down trees for many purposes. For example, human fells trees to use lumbers and firewood, to secure grounds for agriculture, for pasture and to set up roads.

I was surprised at the present condition of rainforests. Recently, I hear that foresting many trees is effective for the earth. But when I took a course of “theory of environment”, I knew it is not necessarily right. Even if planted trees absorb carbon dioxide and emit oxygen, the number of carbon does not decrease easily. Trees fell down have to be buried below the earth for decrease of number of carbon; otherwise they emit carbon various ways. In other words, “Planting trees = cutting carbon dioxide” is wrong. I think that it is eventually important to save primeval forests which are made by earth.

Essay 2-02a: Encounter with Languages

I think that learning language is difficult, especially foreignlanguages are difficult. Foreign languages differ widely from mother tongue in spoken language and written language. But mother tongue is also difficult. I think that speaking and writing decency is lifelong learning. Now, I will introduce my language learning experience. I have ever studied Japanese, Spanish and English.

So I dislike reading at that time. But now, I enjoy Japanese. I like reading books very much. Once I begin to read, I can’t stop. So I often bring books into bathroom. When I read a book in bath tub, I feel happiness.

When I listen to the speaking and singing, I feel comfortable. I think that Spanish has unique rhythms and sounds. I cannot take Spanish class this year due to other classes. But I want to study deeper, so I’m going to take Spanish class next year.

I enjoyed studying with favorite text books. And I am poor at Speaking and Listening. In Japanese, I’m poor to speaking and listening. For example, I dislike speeches and memorizing after hearing. On the other hand, I usually like reading books and writing compositions and essays. I think I have awareness of weak point about speaking and listening in all language. I want to stop the awareness. If I stop the awareness, I can study English activelier.

I already explain my language learning. I have been studying Japanese for 20 years and studied English for 9 years. Setting Spanish aside, I have been studying for long time in my life. In spite of that fact, I'm not good at Japanese and English. For example, I cannot speak Japanese honorific words and fluent English. I think afresh that learning language is difficult, and it is lifelong learning.

I took part in a contest named “Asia Beauty Congress” in Fukuoka on last Monday. It was a contest that hairdressers show the skill and compete. I participated in the contest as a model of hair cut. The hairdresser who cut my hair is Michika, and she is 20 years old. She is a new figure of hair salon named “pikaichi”. We took part in the division of “Under 23”. It is a new division of the contest. There were 174 players under 23 years old in the division, and over 2000 players in all division. Judges were famous hairdressers and chief editor of beauty magazine. First, we won the first heat. At that point in time, about 30 people remained. And the next was final judgment.

I sometimes want to see it. But it is difficult for me to see it, because it is just blue light. When I can find it, I must go ahead. If it is red light, I can see it for a time being. Typing 2nd -5 "Class"

My favorite class is the theory of environment. The class is the second period on Wednesday. And the professor is Mr. Torii. He teaches us about the truth of ecology.

In spring semester, I studied about the reason that changes of climate and environment of earth happen. And I knew that the changes have some cycles, so climatic change happen necessarily. But people believe that human activity causes climatic change and environment destruction. In this class, the professor teaches us the relation between ecology and economy. And I knew that ecology movement brings economic profit.

We are going to study about the problem of energy and what we can do for environment in this autumn semester. I want to know about them as soon as possible.

The favorite point of rabbits is that rabbits are so silent. Rabbits never cry annoying. When I see silent rabbits on my hands, I feel relaxing. And I think rabbit's charm point is the nose. The nose is like a letter of "Y". When rabbit eat something, the "Y" is moving hardly. It is so cute.

And I like pandas too. But I have scarcely seen them directly. I only see them of goods and illustrations. The border of Panda's eyes is black and like dropping eyes. I think I like animals that aren't aggressive.

the Memory Man

What is memory? This book inquires us about memory through a study of man who has extraordinary ability. The main theme is a point that memory based on gene or environment. The conclusion was that the ability was based on his environment. He trained his memory when he was child. He trained over and over again, and his brain developed.

I think that brains are very interesting things. And in the first place, it is strange for me to be able to recognize to “me” as “me”. I can recognize to me as me tomorrow after I go to bed tonight. I always think it is natural. But it is so strange.

I thought that the more people memorize things, the better. But when I watch a TV program about memory, my opinion changed. Woman appeared in the program. She is able to memorize every thing. They are every thing that she experience and see. For example, the date of events, weathers, conversations and feelings etc. If they are sad occurrences, she never forgets them. She cannot forget. I think that it is so misfortunate.

I knew that the ability to forget is really wonderful in human abilities. And I think that memories and brains are mysterious.

Book Review 2-3 "Deserts"

What are deserts? I thought that they are places which have many sands and there are camels. But in fact, deserts which have only sand are about twenty percents of deserts all over the world. Other deserts have many clays, stones and rocks. I knew that there are many kinds of desert in the world for the first time.

Desert is earth which is so dry and the place which people cannot live in. Earth becomes dry for the balance of water of rain and evaporation. Even if it rains heavily, the earth becomes dry quickly in dry air.

I knew about plants that live in deserts. The main plants are camels and cactuses. Camels are essential for people who live in deserts. People live in deserts ride and transfer to various place of the country on camels. Camels drink little water and eat a few weeds. The key that camels can live without water is humps. Humps of camels are lumps of fat. Camels can live in dry place, because they change fat in humps to water. By the way, dromedary camels are in Africa. And Bactrian camels are in Asia. Cactuses mainly live in America. The key that cactuses can endure dry climates are thorns. The thorns were leaves originally. Cactuses transformed leaves to thorns in order not to lose them water during breathing. And stems of cactuses keep enough water.

I have known a thing about deserts. It is “Desertification”. Desertification is a thing that dry places become still dry. The causes are a change of climate and human activities. And people cannot live there.

I am disappointed at the fact of desertification. I think that deserts are so beautiful, and I want to go there. But if desertification becomes worse and a desert appears close at hand, I will not be able to welcome. We must prevent from desertification absolutely.

Essay 2-01b: Favorite Place “My Burrow”

I have my burrow, and I like it very much. It is my house, of course. Now, I will introduce my house. My house is two-storied high and a detached house. There are a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, a bath room and the other three rooms on the first floor. And, there are my room and the other three rooms on the second floor. And there is a garden. My house has a roof of black tile and white walls. The exterior is a Japanese style house. There are four peoples in my family. I have father, mother and an old sister. My sister works in Tokyo, so this house is used by three people. Now, I’ll introduce the points of my house.

First, there are many books in my house. All my family likes reading books. My father likes especially reading. But sadly, we don’t have a library, so books put everywhere. There are about one thousand books in my house. I think the reason why we have so many books is that we like different books each other. My father likes books about business, IT and history. My mother likes books about health and mystery. My sister likes books about fantasy and comics. And I like books about SF, romance and literature. In the first floor, there are three bookshelves. And in the second floor, there are five bookshelves. The bookshelves aren’t bookshelves to be accurate. We use an old cupboard and an old desk for children as bookshelves. I like the lukewarm way of my family.

Second, I like the lavatory of my house. The lavatory has some gadgets. It is the door that it opens automatically, because the door is put in a big spring. After someone open the door with hand, it closes by the power of the spring. This was put by my father, because he thought that closing the door is a tiresome work. Moreover turn on and off the light automatically too. The light can recognize moving things. It was put by my father for the prevention of forgetting to turn off the light. The lavatory is a little narrow, but it is comfortable space for me. The lavatory is like a contraption room. And my father is like a Ninja.

Third, the garden is a main feature. The garden is like a letter of “L”. My parents like gardening. They plant many flowers and vegetables without discrimination. In the garden, a pomegranate tree, a kumquat tree, many flowers (amaryllises, roses, pansies and sunflowers etc.) in planters and plant pots (mini tomatoes, baby leaves and beefsteak plants etc.), kitchen garden (lettuces, parsleys, and Welsh onions etc.) are planted. My garden is always crawling with their. Moreover, we hang out the washing at fine days, so the garden has little space. I think the more simply garden is good, but my garden which has many greens is nice too.

Finally, I will introduce my room. My room is on the second floor. It is a six-tatami room. There are all essential things in my room. They are my laptop computer and my bed. It is a computer of DELL. When I have free time, I lie down on the bed and do net surfing. It is a blissful moment. When I study occasionally, I carry a desk and a chair from the corner of my room. This desk is a desk of my high school. I get it when I was a high school student. When I sit on it, I can concentrate on study. And I like a curtain of my room. It is drawn trees with blue and green colors. I gather things of blue and green for interior of my room. So in my room, there are many blue and green goods.

I stated the main features of my house. I have seen fine houses in European countries in TV and magazines. And I know that my house is not stylish. The bookshelves, the springs of the lavatory, the chaos of my garden are far apart from stylish. But I like them very much. I wanted to live in stylish and cool house like foreign countries. But now, I am satisfied with this living space. If though it is not smart, it has all necessary things. And before everything, living with parents always relieves me. This place is just “My Burrow”.

And, it is the nice point of this season that athletic meetings are held somewhere every weekend. I never take part in them. But when I sometimes see them from a far place, I feel peaceful.

And, I like the color of autumn. Autumn is associated with blown, khaki and ocher etc. They are like fallen leaves. I like the desolate atmosphere.

Typing 2nd -2 "Flower"

My favorite flower is Lycoris radiata. Lycoris radiata called Higan-bana in Japan. In my house's garden, there are many Lycoris radiatas.

Lycoris radiatas come out around the autumn equinox. The equinoctial week is important religious in Japan. I wonder Lycoris radiatas come out around religious day. I think that Lycoris radiatas are holy flowers. In Japan, people sometimes hate them as inauspicious flower. “Higan” of Japanese “Higan- bana” comes from the opposite shore. That is to say “heaven”.

I like especially red Lycoris radiates. They are like blood. If so many Lycoris radiates come out, we will think it is a big fire too. When I sometimes see Lycoris radiatas on the roadside, I think their red are unnatural. But their straight stems and spoke-like petals are very attractive.

GUCCI –Business in fashion

GUCCI is famous around the world for beautiful and expensive clothes and products. In this book, the history and achievement of GUCCI are introduced.

GUCCI is an old company. The company was started by Guccio Gucci in 1921 in small town of Italy. A chance that GUCCI became famous was a wonderful idea of Guccio Gucci. One day, he thought of line of green/ red/ green. The famous GG logo came from a stirrup. And the line came from the design of a horse’s saddle. People liked these products. I didn’t know the logo and the line came from a horse. It is very interesting. I think that the key of success is an impression of the trade mark.

Many famous people around the world wear GUCCI. We can see famous people in photographs and on television and magazine. When they wear clothes of GUCCI, they advertise GUCCI product. In this way, GUCCI can get an image of the expensive and rich company.

I think that fashion is a mass of images. When there is a simple bag, someone gives a concept to it. Then, it becomes a valuable thing. I think that the quality and wills of maker change products. I always buy clothes of mass production. But I try sometimes to think about the message and concept of clothes.

My favorite candy is Konpeito. Konpeito is traditional candy. The form is sphere, and they have many projections. The taste is so sweet. I like the taste and the colorful looks. Konpeito was imported from Portugal in the Edo era. They were called "Confeito" by Portuguese. "Confeito" was called "Konpeito" from Japanese, when they were imported. Konpeito is made of sugar and water. Put large drop of sugar in the pot, and turn around the pot. When the syrup is boiled down in high temperature, the drops of sugar become more large drops. And the drops have many projections. When they are made in official making way, Konpeito has always 24 projections. The fact is so strange. I think Konpeito is candy of magicians.

Under the Ground

In this book, many things about “under the ground” are introduced. At first, a famous wall painting of Lascaux in France is introduced. This wall painting was detected by five boys unexpectedly, when they took a dog for a walk. I was surprised, when I knew the circumstance about the discovery of the wall painting. And this book introduce about the way to be made caves and animals in cave. Caves are unique living environment. Caves are really dark and cold. Animals in caves adapt to the environment.

In modern ages, underground is used as spaces of human living. And in the present, there are subways, tunnels and basements of residences etc. under the ground. The underground is indispensable place.

I think that this book is interesting, because it catches the underground from many kinds of points. There are some pictures in this book. In them, the show cave in China is so beautiful. It is shined with colorful indirect lightings. I think that it is a harmony natural and human works.

I am happy that I always go shopping in underground shopping center and take a train naturally. At first, underground is a mere natural hole. But now, the hole became places of human living. I think human develop is wonderful.

The marriage ceremony of my cousin -2

We left the chapel for the 25th floor. That place is a hall of the wedding reception. We could look at the Kumamoto castle and the castle town out of the big window. I was very hungry and thirsty, because I got up early, besides I was busy. I was looking forward to dishes. But I could not get the dishes easily.

First, the bridegroom’s boss made a speech about 5 minutes. Second, the bridegroom’s former teacher made a speech about 10 minutes. And the bride’s boss made a speech about 3 minute. Moreover, the bridegroom’s grandmother danced Japanese dance as an entertainment. And, after a short speech, the bridegroom’s relative told a toast.

About 30 minute had passed since the champagne poured. I could drink champagne at last.We were served many dishes. All dishes are very good. I regret that I couldn’t eat a little, because I feel choking due to the kimono.

The bride changed dresses twice. The first was a gorgeous kimono. The second was a pure white dress. And the last was a colorful dress with many flower prints. All dresses are beautiful.
My cousin was a teacher of ballet. In the middle of the reception, 4 pupils appeared and danced ballet. They were so cute. They looked as if they were 4 angels.

When I watched the smiling faces of the bride and groom, I also felt happy. I thought that it was nice wedding ceremony.

The marriage ceremony of my cousin -1

I was present at the marriage ceremony of my cousin on last Sunday. She is 26 years old. I think that she is like a sister and a friend to me. I, my mother and my real sister was going to dress in kimonos. We can’t put on kimonos ourselves, so we got up very early, and we left home for the ceremony hall.

When we arrived at a hotel of the ceremony hall, professionals of kimonos dressing were waiting. We had kimonos dressed by turn on a schedule arranged to the minute. I seldom put on kimonos, so I was choking a little.

We went to a chapel in the hotel. I was present at the marriage ceremony for the first time. I was excited before the ceremony started. The ceremony started solemnity. My cousin put on a white wedding dress. She was so beautiful. The bridegroom is also neatly and cool. After the ceremony, the bouquet toss was held. I am unmarried, so I joined it of course. I regret that I couldn’t catch the bouquet. But I am still young, so I don’t mind.

Prokofiev :Piano concerto No.3

I played the piano concerto of Prokofiev as violin part in orchestra. I will introduce this music.

Piano concerto No.3 is most sanguine music in Prokofiev’s piano concerto. The concerto was played himself and by many pianists. Therefore it is so popular.
The speed is very high, and it is in need of technique. But it is bright and cheerful for audience. There are cynical and mysterious moods, and there are lyrical the melodies. I think the moods that change one after another are very interesting and exited. I like the sensuous stimulations of Prokofiev’s music.
In Japan, people spread “the melody of “Echigoshishi”(越後獅子) which Prokofiev memorized when he stayed in Japan was used in the final movement.” And the anecdote is often written in explanations of the music.

The first movement

The first movement is begun by a solo of the clarinet. And, soli of the strings and woodwinds develop into ensemble gradually. Then, solo of piano joins in ensemble. Suddenly, the solo overturns the former lyric melody on wild and bright rhythm. The piano is used like a percussion instrument. This technique is often used on music of Prokofiev. Through impressive disharmony and lightly scales, the first movement is reproduced. And, after luxuriant allegro, the movement comes to end.

The second movement

The second movement begins so slowly. The sounds of the piano are mild and visionary. It is foreseen that the motif of this movement is so silent. But suddenly the tempo is hastened by the piano, and it plays disharmony. This movement is also restless. Somehow, accompaniments cheer up suddenly, and the melody change into brave in the last.

The third movement

The point of the third movement is alternation of orchestra and the piano. The opening melody is humorous like tiptoe. The piano repeats short scales, and various melodies appear and disappear by turns. Through lyric and mysterious melodies, the movement changes various courses anytime. Therefore, the gorgeous finale of high-speed piano scales sounds so honest.
